This year's audience had a very difficult decision to make. Pen, paper, and over 20 different films to consider for the the coveted "Audience Choice Award". Okay, so maybe it was not that hard of a decision to make, veteran film challenge teams know how to make a crowd pleaser!

We have watched all of the on-time entries for this year's DWIFF Challenge and we are announcing the first cut of accepted films into the judging and screening opportunities going forward.

These films met the following criteria; received on time, film could be played back / watched, all elements were present and accurate in submitted film, film was within the run-time limit, and there were not any obscene or pornographic scenes in the film. Late Submissions
There were a number of submissions that were turned in between 7:00pm-8:00pm on June 14th that may still be eligible for screening. Depending our programing, these films may or may not be screened at this event. Other entries were turned in as late as June 20th and may be screened, but this process is time prioritized and there is no guarantee that you film will be screened at the 27th screening. A final film program will be posted soon.
Immediately following this years screening event at the Wayne State Community Arts building the closing ceremonies for the DWIFF festival will wrap up and all of the Challenge teams are invited to join us. At this event you will be wined and dined... and then comes the awards.
We are still finalizing our awards selections for this year,
but each team that receives an award will have an opportunity to graciously accept their award as part of the 2010 DWIFF Festival!
Who: We recommend 2 people from each team come with cell phones charged and ready...
We recommend that each team arrive by 6:30 to take your place at the kickoff, you will need to be physically present at this event in order to participate in the DWIFF Challenge. You can show up late if you like, but the Kickoff event will close at 8:00pm after which there is no guarantee that you will be able to participate.
If there are still spots available it may be possible to register for the DWIFF Challenge at this event, but there is no guarantee. We recommend all teams register by thursday the 10th online.
All of the qualifiying entires for the 2010 DWIFF Challenge will be screened as part of DWIFF. This year we are returning to the beautiful Community Arts Auditorium at Wayne State for the screening event.
Each competing team from the 2009 DWIFF Challenge is entitled to receive a free copy of the 2009 compilation DVD.
This DVD has all the awarded films from last year on it, a true treasure!
Pickup your copy at the orientation... or if you would like it mailed out to you, just e-mail me your current snail mail address and I will drop it in the mail for you pronto!
Additional copies are $5 each... or you can just make your own bootleg!Also, registered teams for 2010 get a free copy!And, if you were a team from 2008 and you can't wait for your compilation DVD you can have this one instead...

When is the challenge?
The DWIFF Challenge takes place for 48 hours two weeks before the film festival.
Competition begins, Friday 7:00 P.M. June 11th
Competition ends, Sunday 7:00 P.M. June 13th
How do I sign up?
You can enter your team into the DWIFF challenge through this website. Just fill out the registration form and pay the $75 registration fee online or send in a check.
