DETROIT, April 26, 2010 – After its second year as a wildly successful film competition, the Detroit Windsor International Film Festival (DWIFF) is announcing registration is officially open for the DWIFF 48 Hour Film Challenge (aka The DWIFF Challenge).

The DWIFF Challenge is a fast-paced, sleepless, adrenaline-pumping weekend in which participants form into teams to make movies—write, cast, shoot, edit and score it—in just 48 hours. The strict timeframe of 48 hours is meant to apply pressure on the filmmakers—forcing them to focus on creativity and teamwork skills.

On Friday, June 11, each team will get a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre, all to include in their films—to be completed in just 48 hours. The films will be screened and judged at the Detroit Windsor International Film Festival, which runs June 23—27 at Wayne State University.

Filmmakers can sign up on the Event Brite web site at http://dwiffchallenge.eventbrite.com/. Teams can sign up for $75 and get a $25 discount using coupon code: dwiff2010. Individuals looking for a team to join can sign up for free. The orientation date, screening date and prizes will be announced at a later date.

Celebrated as one of America’s leading new film festivals in a state with a booming film industry, the Detroit Windsor International Film Festival is dedicated to showcasing the newest and most diverse voices of independent film by featuring works from around the world in a first-class international forum. Wayne County is a proud sponsor of the Detroit Windsor International Film Festival Program.
